Cabañeros
   CABAÑEROS

The Cabañeros group of municipalities is located less than an hour and a half from Madrid, near the Cabañeros National Park, which is a classic example of a Mediterranean, medium-mountain ecosystem, covering a total area of 39,310 hectares.

The towns and villages within Cabañeros are strongly agricultural, linked as they are to the Montes de Toledo mountains, in the heart of Castile La Mancha, Spain’s centre.

La Gozuela is located in the Montes de Toledo area. It is the province’s second largest municipality, after Los Yébenes. It is drained by the River Pusa, a direct tributary of the Tajo. In fact, our town’s surroundings have the same ecosystems as those of the national park: raña grassland; low Mediterranean mountain; and wetland, and it has some completely wild areas. The park has great riches from an ecological point of view, as well as excellent resources for hunting. It has two outstanding tourist routes: the ChorroValley route and the Rocigalgo route.

Cabañeros provides a great variety of views and a rich natural environment with mountainous landscapes, such as the Rocigalgo peaks, or the peaceful waters of the River Pusa.

From your rural accommodation, you can plan a visit to Toledo to enjoy this World Heritage Site. La Gozuela is 70 kilometres from Toledo, and this is where you can join the province’s main road.

This is the perfect match: rural tourism and culture in Toledo, a stroll through oak groves, along mountain streams, gazing on unexpected landscapes… and also enjoying a walk through the narrow streets of Toledo’s old town, admiring the cathedral, the monastery of San Juan de los Reyes with its magnificent cloister, and seeing the paintings of El Greco for yourself.
